Recipe-Apple Cake

Hey everyone! I thought since Mabon was approaching that I would share this recipe which is perfect for this sabbat and time of year!

This is a recipe my mother uses for apple cake which is beyond delish! She makes this every Thanksgiving and Christmas as she knows it is my favorite. I know it isn’t healthy but I usually end up eating almost the entire thing by myself. I decided to start baking this for Mabon as it just seems the perfect sabbat with the apples, walnuts, and spices. I don’t have a picture for it but it doesn’t look like the usual sort of cake so don’t fret. I’ll definitely have to post a picture when I make it! I also added magickal correspondences for the ingredients! The recipe is as follows:

1 cup oil

2 1/2 cup flour

2 eggs (fertility, protection)

2 cups sugar (love, harmony, peace)

3 cups apples (love, healing, happiness)

1 tsp. cinnamon (healing, love, lust, protection, strength)

1 tsp. nutmeg (fidelity, healing, prosperity, luck)

1 tsp. vanilla (love, lust, joy, luck)

1 cup chopped pecans (prosperity)

bag butterscotch chips (prosperity)

Combine oil, flour, eggs, sugar, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon.

Stir in apples and pecans.

Pour in pan then sprinkle butterscotch chips over the top.

Bake at 350F for 55-60 mins.

I hope ya’ll enjoy this recipe and have a wonderful Sabbat full of health, blessings, and joy!

Blessed Be!

Kitchen Witch Tip #1

Hello, Beautiful Spirits! I thought I would share this quick little kitchen witch tip that I like. Personally I always feel better and believe my food tastes better after I’ve said a quick prayer of gratitude and blessing over it before eating. Have you ever tried it? It doesn’t have to be long and fancy but a simple thank you. Well, do that before even cooking the meat and it really allows you to connect to the animal. When about to cook meat, take a minute to put your hands over the package and really thank the animal for its sacrifice so that you are able to eat and live. Really feel that connection and gratitude within your heart. 🙂 You can also bless your ingredients for other dishes by gathering them all beforehand and while holding your hands above them, give thanks for them as well.

Saying a prayer of gratitude doesn’t have to only be done BEFORE eating the finished product. By blessing and thanking the animal beforehand, it really makes the cooking of the meal into a ritual itself. Also add ingredients based on their correspondences. That’s another good tip too! 🙂

Offering Stones

Hello, beautiful spirits! I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend! I was going through my witchy cabinet earlier in search of a crystal when I noticed my jar of offering stones I’d made around Ostara that I thought I would make a post about because they are one of my favorite things to make as well as being something very useful as soon our gardens and plants will be abundant enough and ready to harvest. Before I found the recipe for offering stones, I’d thought about using corn meal as an offering whenever I was able to plant some things as at the time we were in the process of moving and it was just too chaotic!

I found the recipe originally on CharmingPixieFlora’s youtube channel but it has since been deleted. However, the video that she was inspired by can still be found here: How to make Offering Stones. It is a good video so I recommend also taking a look at it. 🙂 I will also include the instructions below. I made these stones my own by the herbs I added as well as a few crystals.

Here is the recipe, and then I will describe the herbs and crystals I added.

  • 2 cups organic flour
  • 2 cups warm spring water
  • 1 cup sea salt
  • 2 tbsp organic oil
  • 1 tbsp cream of tartar (optional)

  1. Mix the flour, water, salt and oil and tartar.
  2. You want the sides to stop sticking to the side.
  3. Low heat and keep mixing.
  4. Take it off heat to cool.
  5. Make into stones.
    1. Can add glitter, color, herbs, Fairy wings
  6. To add whatever, push a hole in the middle and keep folding it in itself then roll it.
  7. Takes about 2-3 days for them to harden.

**I constantly turn them over so they will dry evenly.

The herbs I added were Lavender, Rosemary, and Peppermint.  All three herbs were chosen for their magickal properties of love and healing. I wanted to give the plant I harvest some extra TLC. I want it to continue to grow vibrant and abundant so let’s give it some healing.  I also couple lavender with nature spirits, plant devas, and fairies so it also is used to thank them. I mixed them together in my mortar and pestle until I found the aroma pleasing and felt they were ready. (I added the herbs when I was forming the balls so they were already there when the stones were drying.) As I mixed them together, I chanted my desire of healing and love and used my magickal voice so that my intention vibrated through my body and into my herbs. Just to give it a bit more oomph, once done mixing and grinding I held my hands over the mortar and pestle and sent my intention into the mixture while strongly visualizing an abundant plant that was well tended and alive.

Look at these colors!!!

Such a beautiful Spring colored blend AND it smells AH-MAZING!

I added crystal chips as well so once the stone decomposes the crystals will be left and their energy can add to the magick and plant itself. I chose Green Aventurine and Peridot for abundance, Rose Quartz for love, and Citrine to sort of keep them energetically fresh, something I actually got from Flora who instead does it with her oils. I pressed out each piece of dough, added a few pinches of herbs which made my hands smell FANTASTIC!, before laying out a sort of crystal grid even though I knew once I started to roll and knead the dough, it would shift and change. Once done, I left them to dry before placing them in a well sealed jar.

Before crystals–guys, seriously I’m in love!

Finished stone–before drying 🙂

I hope you have a blessed day and if you decide to make this, let me know what magickal goodies you decide to add to it! 🙂 Make it your own! Put your own twist on things! That’s what makes it fun! 😀

Brightest of Blessings,
